Senior Hurling Championship
Trim 3-19 vs 1-11 Kiltale
On Friday evening our senior hurlers set about their title defense in Pairc Tailteann. Jimmy Canty had access to a large panel of players after a component having spent much of the year on County duty. There’s still plenty of talented stickmen returning from holidays and injuries in coming weeks and picking a panel will be a challenge for Jimmy and his team of selectors.
Kiltale started well and put over a couple of points before the townsmen got into top gear and took control. After about 10 minutes Trim had taken a lead which would not be relinquished for the remainder of the match.
Debutant Eoghan Ryan proved he is ready for the step up to senior level, putting in an impressive performance at corner back. He was complimented well by his fellow corner back Danny Coleman who played brilliantly on the opposite side.
Alan Douglas pointed 7 frees and one from play while we had 3 goals, 2 from Joey Cole either side of the half time whistle and one from substitute Mikey Cullen.
Overall Trim dominated much of the game and the only questionable factor is the 13 wides struck throughout the hour. A fine start to the 2023 campaign all round.
