Trim welcomed neighbours Boardsmill to St Loman’s Park on Tuesday evening for the fourth round of the Senior Camogie Championship. On a fine sunny evening those who were at the game were treated to an evenly contested match where a little bit experience was the difference between the teams in the end.
Boardsmill were first on the scoreboard after the fifth minute with a point from close range. The Trim girls had several chances to equalise, and that equaliser came in the fifteenth minute from Anna Foley from a tight angle. Alex Donoghue put Trim in front before the visitors scored to level the game after twenty minutes. Trim kicked on in the last ten minutes of the half with two unanswered points from Emma O'Neil and Amy Boyle to deservedly lead at half time.
Half-time score: Trim 0-04 v Boardsmill 0-02
On the resumption of the second half scores were traded between the teams with Trim’s scores coming from a sixty-five from Leighann Massey. The visitors got the next four scores before Emma O'Neil narrowed the gap to a point in the twenty seventh minute. Trim were creating chances and were unlucky not to get a couple of goals with one cleared off the line and another just narrowly wide. A couple of frees in additional time helped the visitors close out the game.
Trim will look forward to the final round of the championship in the coming weeks against Kildalkey. This young team will take lots of positives from the performances so far in this their first year back at Senior level.
