"No Flies on Trim: Unstoppable in Round 1 Win!"

After a short break from competition the girls were back out on Friday with the first Round of their Summer League

From the outset, Mischa Beggs set the tone by winning the first ball, but Wolfe Tones quickly put the first score on the board. Evelyn’s strategic pass to Katie resulted in a 45, although the attempt didn't add to the score. Stacy's tenacity brought the game to a draw, while Leah's powerful free pushed Trim ahead. A sensational goal from Leah Boyle, following a free won by Leighann, further solidified their lead. Ellen's adept pass to Katie and Emma's defence kept the pressure on Wolfe Tones.   Leighann's defensive strength forced a 45 against the opposition, while Stacey's interception prevented Wolfe Tones from penetrating Trim's defence, turning over the sliotar and allowing Katie to score.  Mary’s precise puck out was expertly capitalized on by Sara, setting Mischa up to score.  Mischa's interception of Wolfe Tones' puck out led to another score by Katie, while Stacey's pass to Evelyn, followed by a quick handoff to Leighann, resulted in a high-flying score.

Stacy continued fighting not only swallowing up the opposition but also a fly but that didn’t stop her either, a brief stop to deal with the obstruction, no foul called by the ref and buzzed back onto the pitch.

Trim maintained their dominance in the second half.  Sara Mc's initial play set the tone, leading to a series of impressive actions on the field. Mischa's brilliant goal and Sara's follow-up score were key highlights. Leah Boyle's defensive prowess was evident with a crucial block that halted Wolfe Tones’ momentum, followed by another point from Sara. Katie’s agility and strategic hand-off allowed Leighann to score brilliantly, and Katie herself added a powerful point to the tally. Despite Wolfe Tones’ attempt at a comeback with two points,   Leah Boyle continued to impress in defensive with some high catches and effective clearances.   Abigail's striking free kick was instrumental in maintaining the team’s offensive pressure.  The game concluded with Ellen B’s decisive goal, finalizing a convincing victory.

A nice winning start to the League and the girls showing great teamwork and skill.

Pictured with the panel are Alex and Amy, members of the U/23 Meath All Ireland panel, who came to cheer on the girls before their All Ireland final the following day.   It wasn’t to be for them in the Final but a huge achievement for our girls, Alex, Amy, Emma H, Emma
O’N and Bláthnaid.
