🇲🇨 Our 2023 Trim GAA’s Hall of Fame Award Recipient is Sean Gilsenan 🇲🇨
There is none more fitting to receive this award than this year’s recipient. Sean has been involved in various roles in the club over the last 40 years. In the early 1990’s he held the position of Juvenile Chairman and went on then in 1997 to take over as the Chairmanship of the Senior Club. During his 13 years in that Chair up to 2010, he led from the front and was one of the driving forces on a Committee that took the Club from a mediocre state to one of the finest in the Country – that is, purchasing the adjoining land, building a state-of-the-art clubhouse, laying and developing two new pitches and redeveloping the main pitch.
Side by side with his Chairman’s role Sean has worked tirelessly on many fundraising projects such as Club Lotto and Bingo and more recently Split the Bucket and many others besides.
Apart from all his administration and fundraising feats his love and passion for Gaelic games, football and hurling, were always to the fore in the Club over the years and that was manifested in his great support and involvement with the teams and the games.
His great passion for the club and the games inspired the other members of his family. His wife provided medical care on the sideline for many years and his sons performed outstandingly for the club in football and hurling and also as team mentors in later years. His daughter also briefly got involved and played Camogie for a short time as instructed by her dad as he felt it would only be right that she be involved too. A third generation of the family is now playing in the club which is something that he is very, very proud of.
What a wonderful legacy this man has left and he is undoubtedly a very deserving winner of this year's Hall of Fame Award.
