Final score Trim 3-21 Kildalkey 1-14

Trim minor Hurlers got the quest for  three minor Hurling championship wins in a row off to a great start in Kildalkey on Saturday afternoon. This was a fabulous victory against a very well prepared Kildalkey outfit coached by former Meath and Leinster hurler Pat Potterton. Trim got off to a flying start as fifteen year old Tadhg Carty scored a great point after just thirty seconds. This score gave Trim the lead that they never relinquished for the remaining fifty nine and a half minutes. Joey Cole added the reds second from a placed ball . Kildalkey then got the next two scores with two points from frees. The Town side then went on to score the next six scores from the sticks of Joey Cole , Ian Byrne and Josh Harris. Kildalkey kept the score board ticking over with a couple of pointed frees. Castleabbey man Josh Harris and Joey Cole were The Reds top marksmen in the first half.

Half Time Score Trim 1-14 Kildalkey 0-6

After the restart the teams traded a couple of points each before Darragh Heffernan scored the Town sides second goal in the twelfth minute of the second half. This score gave Trim a fourteen point lead.Kildalkey bounced back and hit two points on the trot to give themselves a slender chance with just ten minutes remaining . Then Joey Cole got a great point from play , Harris tapped over a short range free the reds had restored their fourteen point lead. Then Josh Harris scored his second goal of the game in the twenty third minute. Trim now seventeen points up with seven minutes to play. Caelum Casserly got on the score sheet with a very good point from play. To Kildalkeys credit they never gave up and were rewarded with a goal from a free which turned out to be the last puck of the match.

This was a very entertaining game from two very skillful teams all players on display showed lovely skills in all aspects of the skills required to play hurling. Many of these players will go to play for the clubs senior teams and it looks like both clubs have very bright futures .
