This evening Trim Junior Hurlers traveled to Kilberry under huge pressure as the looked to make it three out of three wins in the first round of the Meath Hurling championships For the Trim club. The junior hurlers did not disappoint as the beat Wolf Tones by eleven points. The match was a ding dong battle between two very contrasting teams, The Tones fielded a team of the older variant and the Reds fielded many youngsters making their first adult championship start. Youngsters Evan De Courcy Tobin in goals , Conell Rogers and Kyle McCabe in the full back line , Adam Boyle and Eoin Lenihan in the half back line , Andrew Gibney Sean Foley , Coner Mcginley , Johnny McEvoy and Jack Dowling were all very impressive throughout the match and it was their young legs that led to The reds pulling away to score 1-6 without reply in the last ten minutes of the match. Slightly older players like Jamie Hackett , Jimmy Canty , Brian Dwyer , Tommy Farrell , Ronan Keane showed their experience to Secure this win. Trim introduced Demo Dempsey and John Delaney in the last seven minutes to steady the ship. A special word must go to Patrick “Patchy Lennon who was in tremendous form scoring 4 points from play .
I must mention Wolf Tones in this report, they fielded two teams this weekend and this is a brilliant achievement for the Tones, They continues to keep the game alive in north Meath and its a credit to them. People like Thomas McKeown , Robert Kelly Lynch and Philip O’Brien will never let the greatest game in the world die in their part of our county.
