Trim traveled to north Meath last evening for our first competitive football match in over eighteen weeks.
This PRO was getting ready for the match from about 2pm. The excitement going to the game was akin to a child’s on Christmas Eve.
”Love The Ould Footall”
A new look Trim team was produced by Brendan Murphy and his management Team. Trim got out of the blocks fast and Alan Douglas had the towns side on the score board after just one minute.. Debutante Mark Molloy added Trim’s Second point in the third minute. From the kick out trim won the ball In the middle of the pitch, with a skillful inter passing move up the field the ball landed to the hands of Aaron Lynch who finished the ball to the net with the palm of his hand. Ballinlough playing in their change strip of White &Red because of the clash of colors, they could not get the ball past the Trim fifty yard line in the opening ten minutes. By the twenty first minute Trim added six more pints from the boots of Aaron Lynch , Mark Molloy and one from the very impressive Douglas. The south Meath side we’re eleven points up with twenty minutes played in the first half. In the last ten minutes of the half Ballinlough began to get a foothold in the match and seemed to be getting to grips with the Trim regard set up. The north meath club scored two points in this part of the match. Aaron Lynch scored the reds last score of the first half with a great placed ball effort.
H/T Score :Trim 1-9 Ballinlough 0-2
Ballinlough started well in the second half with the aid of a strong wind. Pader Byrne was pulling all the strings up front for Ballinlough and the team in white notched a goal an two points early in the second half to reduce the Trim Lead. These scores were asking big questions of this youthful Trim team . Some serious questions! These questions were answered in spades . Trim then took control of this Div 2 Group C football match, ith seventeen minutes remaining Trim we on a scoring spree scorning a further one goal and four points to Ballinloughs two points. Scores in the second half from the ever green Joycie, Ian Bermingham, Alan’s Douglas, Brian Dowling , Mark Molloy and of course the wonderful Aaron Lynch contributed to a brilliant Trim win as we relaunched our season.
Brendan Murphy will be happy with this performance as his team they played with great hunger, speed and exuberance. Murph now has a squad that looks like they are heading in the right direction after last year’s disappointment. One very refreshing aspect from last night was that Trim only traveled with twenty one players n the squad. Two many times we see squads with up to fifteen players on the bench. With only two hundred allowed into a match including the team squads Trim football management team allowed for more spectators to travel to the match.
