Trim started brightly, with Evelyn and Nessa making strong runs through the middle and Kayleigh Clíona and Emma producing important clearances.
Ratoath opened the scoring with a point and a goal and Stacey responded with a well-taken free, sending the sliotar over the bar, but Ratoath quickly replied with a point before adding another goal.
Trim continued to work hard with Chloe causing problems for the Ratoath defence and Deirbhile adding a point. Nessa then converted after a hard-earned free to keep Trim in touch.
Trim trailed at the break but came out strongly at the start of the second half. Chantel worked hard to win possession before setting up Sarah, who calmly popped the ball over the bar.
Trim continued to apply pressure and began to eat into the Ratoath advantage. With the score at 2-04 to 1-04, Trim were just a goal behind. Leah made a few great catches in defence, while the Trim backs continued to battle for every ball.
Sarah and Aoife showed determination to win possession and, with help from Mary, worked the ball through to Chantel. Chantel fired to the net bringing the sides level at 2-04 a piece.
Ratoath edged back in front with a point, but Trim refused to let them settle.
Clíona produced a great solo run finding Ailbhe with Chantel finishing the move by sending the ball over the bar to level the game once again at 2-05 to 2-05.
Trim then took the lead for the first time. Sarah worked the ball through to Katie who passed to Deirbhile, who sent the sliotar over the bar to put Trim ahead, 2-06 to 2-05.
Ratoath responded strongly, scoring a goal from distance following a determined run to regain the advantage. They added further scores to move further ahead in the lead.
Trim continued to show great character, with Ellie making her way to the backs to help in the defence and Nessa, Stacey and Charley putting in strong shifts and battling for possession. Chantel then set up Deirbhile for another point towards the end of the game but while trim worked hard Ratoath came out winners.
Despite the final result, there was plenty to be proud of as Trim showed tremendous character, determination and never-say-die spirit to fight their way back into the game and push Ratoath all the way to the final whistle.
