The draw for the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship quarter-finals and relegation play-off semi-finals held tomorrow, Sunday 6th September at 6pm and will be broadcast live across Meath GAA’s social media channels
With everything on the line and a place in the quarter-finals at stake for both sides, Trim dug deep to secure a hard-fought victory over Skryne in a thrilling final-round clash. The game began in absolutely dreadful rain, which thankfully petered out, but the intensity never let up as both teams fought desperately to keep their championship hopes alive.
Skryne got off to the better start, with a goal from a high ball into the Trim square in the fourth minute, followed by a point a minute later. Trim notched up three wides before Aaron opened Trim’s account from a free in the eighth minute. Eoin O’Connor then added a point from play to settle Trim into the game.
Trim began to take control, and in the 12th minute a turnover from Quigley saw the ball worked forward, eventually resulting in another score from Aaron. Aaron added a two-point free in the 14th minute as Trim continued to threaten.
Skryne responded with a free in the 17th minute, followed by two points from play. A further point came in the 19th minute after the ball was brought forward following dissent , leaving the score at 1-4 to 5 points.
Trim continued to create chances and came close to a goal in the 21st minute, but the opportunity went narrowly wide. Quigley then won a kickout, with Aaron converting the resulting two-point free. Daire added another point after Trim won possession from a further kickout, before Aaron struck again from a Quigley free in the 28th minute.
Trim were dominating the kickouts and looked to be finishing the half strongly. A turnover won by Daire in the 30th minute was finished with another score, leaving Trim ahead.

Skryne came out strongly after the restart and began to put Trim under pressure. Trim responded by keeping the pace high and attacking at every opportunity, with Quigley getting on the scoresheet as the visitors continued to threaten.
Changes were made as Trim introduced Sean Foley, James Murray, Ian Birmingham. Lynch was proving particularly influential and, from a dead ball, he restored Trim’s lead with another well-taken score. Trim settled on the ball and began to regain control, while Caulfield won a free outside the arc which Lynch converted once again.
Skryne continued to battle and threatened to close the gap, but Trim’s defence stood firm when it mattered. Bolger produced a brilliant block to deny what looked like a certain goal, while the Trim backs worked tirelessly to keep Skryne at bay.
As the game entered its final stages, Trim continued to attack at pace. Caulfield stepped up when it mattered, helping to secure the scores Trim needed to see out the game.
Despite Skryne's late efforts, Trim remained composed and saw out the closing minutes to claim a valuable 0-19 to 1-13 victory.
It was a strong, battling performance from Trim, who showed great character after Skryne’s second-half fightback and finished the game with plenty of composure.
