A fantastic performance from the girls saw us come away with a convincing 5-14 to 1-6 victory over Dunboyne. From the first whistle, the team showed great determination, skill and teamwork, battling hard for every ball and putting in a strong all-round performance.
We got off to a great start, with Aoibhinn and Emma Hannifan getting on the scoresheet early. Dunboyne responded with a point, but the girls quickly settled into the game and began to take control.
Ellen Murray showed her accuracy from frees, while Ellen Bermingham was excellent in the battle for possession. Amy Boyle and Alex worked tirelessly throughout, while Leighann put in some excellent tackles to keep the pressure firmly on Dunboyne.
Then came a brilliant goal from Hayley, who found the bottom-left corner with a superb finish. The girls continued to work hard, with Julianne showing great strength and determination and Rian putting in a tireless shift for the team.
The pressure continued to build, with Ellen Murray firing a rocket of a goal, followed by points from Emma Hannifan and Ellen Murray from a free. Emma Hannifan then found the back of the net to give Trim a commanding lead going into half-time.
Half-Time: Trim 3-6, Dunboyne 0-2
The girls came out for the second half with the same determination and continued to work hard across the pitch. Dunboyne added a point early on, but Leighann responded with a point of her own.
Dunboyne then managed to find the net, but our girls never panicked and quickly regained their momentum. A fantastic goal from Hayley, following a brilliant free from Ellen Murray, restored the advantage and kept Trim firmly in control.
Ellen Murray added another point from a 45, while Anna Foley struck a great point. At the other end, Grainne produced a brilliant save to keep Dunboyne at bay.
There was plenty of battling from Bláthnaid, while Emma Hannifan added another point. Ellen Murray then finished another excellent team move with a goal, with further points added by the Trim impact subs.
The final whistle brought a well-deserved 5-14 to 1-6 victory. It was a superb team performance, with every player contributing through hard work, battling, tackling and some excellent scoring.
