Our U16B Camogie girls put on tenacious display versus a very fit, strong and talented Dunderry team on Monday night. Dunderry were undefeated in the championship to date so we knew we needed a big display from the girls and they didn't disappoint.
Our backs were resolute against a strong breeze in the first half. Dunderry’s number 11 was extremely talented and scored every free and nearly every shot that she took throughout. Trim got 3 wonderful team scores in the first half, which could easily have been 6 points with a bit more composure in front of goals.
Dunderry’s goalie was excellent in the first half and blocked everything and came out bravely to help out her defence. Dunderry were leading by six pts at half time. However, Trim team came into their own in the second where each player won their individual battles and this finally told on the scoreboard as we began to make our possession count. Our forwards found their range and began to take their many chances scoring 2 goals and 4 points.
It was extremely encouraging for management to see the girls keep going to the very end when they could easily have given up. It was a super team effort and this win brings us right back into the Championship.
We play Ashbourne in the next round.
