A promising start to the championship for our U16 hurlers, with a 1-20 to 2-7 win over Na Fianna.
Trim started well with the wind in the first half and played some great link-up hurling. Top scorer Conor McGuinness finished with an impressive 1-9, finding the net and putting over points from every angle. Seanie Henry, Jamie Massey, Ronan Murray and David McSharry also got on the scoreboard.
The backs put in a strong performance, led by Seanie, who wasn’t letting much past him and also sent over some great long-range points. Na Fianna were held to just one score in the first half, with Oisín Leonard, Cian Donoghue and Peter Higgins solid throughout and Evan McGuinness doing a great job in goals.
Pierce Cullen, Adam O’Donnell, Charlie Battersby and Alex O’Connor worked hard to keep the play moving, while Jamie Massey and Tiernan Rogers delivered plenty of good ball into the forwards. Jamie McLoughlin was hungry for the ball and pulled off a great interception at an important stage, which led to a score.
With a few key players away on holidays, it was great to see everyone step up and play their part. A brilliant effort from all 26 players, with the bench adding plenty too, Charlie Brennan, Oran O Sullivan, Cormac Tuite, Ryan O Connor and Conor O Dowd
