Trim rounded off their 2026 League campaign with a well deserved victory over neighbours Kilmessan. With Kildalkey and Kiltale set to meet in the League decider, thoughts now turn to the Championship with an opening round Fixture against Na Fianna in Dunganny on the 17th July.

This latest encounter was played out on a warm and sunny, mid Summer’s morning, in Kilmessan. From the start, Trim were always to the fore with early scores from Mikey Cole and Kyle Ennis. Kyle Ennis raised the first green flag for Trim, in the ninth minute, following good work from Conor McKeown. The home side were well served by Daragh and Conor Horan who were ultimately responsible for thirteen of Kilmessan’s final tally of seventeen points.

There were further Trim points from Alan Douglas (3), Kyle Ennis (2), Mikey Cole (2) and Ben Holden, with a rare foray into the forward ranks. In between the Horan brothers kept things ticking over for the home side and an entertaining first half finished with Trim maintaining a slender two point advantage.

Half Time: Kilmessan 0-11; Trim 1-10

A monstrous pointed free from James Toher shortly after the resumption edged the visitors further ahead, but Kilmessan were reluctant to let their home advantage slip and responded with a couple of unanswered scores before Kyle Ennis, once again, converted for Trim.

There were further Trim scores from Kyle Ennis, Ruairi McCaffrey, James Toher, and Conor McKeown, with Conor Horan having three converted frees for Kilmessan, leaving Trim with a three point advantage, 1-16 to 0-16, by the twenty first minute.

The clinching score arrived in the twenty fifth minute via a superb Alan Douglas strike giving little chance to Sean Power in the Kilmessan goals, and Trim were able to comfortably see out the remaining time with further points from James Toher and Kyle Ennis.

Overall, this was a very satisfying Trim performance with solid play throughout.
Trim: Eoin O’Reilly, Danny Coleman, Ben Holden (0-1), Padraig Walsh, Alex Fox, James Toher (0-3), Dimmy Higgins, Mark Molloy, Ruairi McCaffrey (0-1), James Andrews, Alan Douglas (1-3), Mark Murray, Conor McKeown (0-1), Kyle Ennis (1-6, 3f), Mikey Cole (0-3).
