Trim put in a very disappointing display when they met their neighbours Boardsmill in Trim on Friday night (1st May) and ended up on the wrong end of a 4-10 to 1-8 scoreline. The result was all the more disappointing after their brilliant display on Monday night against Donaghmore Ashbourne.

There was little to indicate that Boardsmill would dominate this game and run out easy winners in the opening twenty minutes. At that stage Trim a fair share of the play and held a O-3 to )-2 advantage with points from Neil Sweeney, Sean McKiernan and Declan Green. However the last ten minutes of the half saw Boardsmill secure a goal, a two pointer and a point to a single Trim point to leave the half time score

Trim started the second half brightly and had a point on the board within the first two minutes from a Neil Sweeney free but the game was decided twelve minutes when Boardsmill added 2-3 to their tally without reply from Trim. The first goal came from a penalty in the 5th minute and a few minutes later the added another after a defensive mistake. These goals and a further three points in the third quarter ended the game as a contest.

To be fair to Trim they never gave up and Adam Donoghue scored an inspirational two pointer in the 17th minute to give some hope and further attacks saw Trim secure 1-2 before the final whistle but Boardsmill secured a late 1-1 to finish the game 4-10 to 1-8 scoreline.

Two games in the space of five days and missing a few key players undoubtedly affected the Trim performance but they will be disappointed at a generally below par performance.
