Full time Donaghmore/Ashbourne 1-13  Trim 5-15

Trim put in a dominant display and ran out convincing winners in their encounter against Donaghmore Ashbourne (DA) in Ashbourne on Monday night (27th April) on a 1-13 to 5-15 scoreline. The final score was a fair reflection of the superiority of Trim throughout the match.

From the throw in it was evident that Trim were up for this match and were not going to give an inch to their opponents. Within two minutes of the throw in Trim had registered two points through Evan Collins and Daniel Murray and added two more from Evan Collins and Neil Sweeney before the fifth minute had passed. DA responded with three points by the tenth minute but this was the best period they had in the game as Trim quickly responded with a pointed free from Daniel Murray and a well taken goal from Rian Collins.

From here on Trim controlled matters and added points in the 15th and 16th minutes as they moved the ball quickly from one end of the field to the other in swift passing movements that had DA struggling although they did score two well taken long range points in response to the Trim onslaught. They capped their superiority in this period with a great passing movement which ended with Daniel Murray netting after a blistering shot came back off the post. The sides swopped two points apiece in  the last ten minutes of the half to leave the half time score DA 0-7  Trim 2-9

Any hope of a respite DA had as the second half started was quickly dispelled as Gary Fleming and Daniel Murray registered points inside the first minute. Josh Harris quickly followed with a goal and Neil Sweeney a point before DA managed to register a point in the 5th minute. A few minutes later they registered a second point but Trim responded with a great move as Josh Harris sent a pinpoint 50 metre pass to Daniel Murray who made no mistake in crashing the ball to the back of the DA net. Neil Sweeney followed quickly with a fine point.

In the final ten minutes both sides added a further 1-3, the DA goal coming in the 32nd minute as a consolation to leave the final scoreline DA 1-13  Trim 5-15.
This was an impressive display by Trim. They dominated this match from start to finish and played some great football over the course of the hour. It was a great team performance so it would be invidious to single out individual players for special mention.
