🔴⚾ Trim Finish Strong in final Brendan Davis Cup Round 🔴⚾
Trim had a comprehensive victory over Dunderry in this recent Brendan Davis Cup encounter. It was a refreshing change to play on the main St Loman’s pitch without the necessity of floodlighting and certainly made it easier for those in attendance.
Although the opening period was fairly evenly matched, Trim completely overwhelmed the visitors in the second period to run out easy victors. One feature of this game was the fact that no less than ten Trim players had their names added to the scoresheet, but they also racked up a total of thirteen wides against their opponents seven.
It was also interesting that their first five scores came from different players, James Murray, Josh Ayton, Daniel Fox, George Douglas, and Conor Quigley. Furthermore, Conor Quigley converted a hat trick of consecutive scores in quick succession between the eighteenth and twentieth minute.
There were further scores from James Murray (2, 1 ’65), and Daniel Murray to complete the first half scoring while It was mainly Dunderry’s Donagh O’Laoire and Even Nolan who kept the visitors in touch before referee Mark Reilly sounded the half time whistle.
Half Time: Trim 0-10; Dunderry 0-7
The second period was a completely different matter with the home side notching up the first six scores through Daniel Murray, James Murray (2), James Andrews, Conor Mc Keown, and Darragh McLoughlin, with Donagh O’Laoire being the sole Dunderry scorer in that third quarter.
James Murray helped himself to another brace (1, ’65) before Dunderry had their final conversion in the sixteenth minute.
The final quarter was totally dominated by Trim and they ran up a scoreline of 2-8 without reply. A further Daniel Murray point was followed by a Josh Ayton goal in the eighteenth minute and there were further points from James Murray (4), and Mark Molloy before Conor Quigley raised another green flag following a great run by Daniel Murray.
Trim finished up with another Josh Ayton effort and, fittingly, James Murray completed the scoring.
Trim: Eoin O’Reilly, Darragh McLoughlin (0-1), Gary Fleming, Danny Coleman, Mark Molloy (0-1), Eoghan Ryan, Mark Murray, James Murray (0-12, 3f, 1 ’65), Conor Quigley (1-3), George Douglas (0-1), Daniel Murray (0-3), Josh Ayton (1-2), Daniel Fox (0-1), James Andrews (0-1), Conor McKeown (0-1).
Subs (used): Eamonn Yeates, Oisin Hackett, Rory McGrath, Cian Walsh.
