Huge congratulations to our U/14 girls on their Division 1 Championship win against a tough St. Colmcille’s side. This victory marks a significant milestone as they become the first team to win a Division 1 title for Trim LGFA, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
In this extremely competitive and exhilarating Final, Trim emerged victorious against a tough St. Colmcille’s side, overcoming both adversity and a series of challenges. Despite being reduced to 14 players at two points during the game after two yellow cards, Trim's resilience and skill shone through, securing them a well-deserved win.
Cadhla Barry was one of the stars of the show, scoring two brilliant goals that proved pivotal in the final outcome. Her composure in front of goal and clinical finishing kept St. Colmcille’s on the back foot throughout the match. Tamsin's tireless work ethic in the middle of the field was also a standout feature, with her relentless runs up and down the pitch providing much-needed support at both ends of the field.
Captain Shona McCaffery was the backbone of Trim's defense, always in the right place at the right time to mop up any loose ball and stop St. Colmcille’s' attacking efforts. Her leadership and calm under pressure were crucial in keeping the defense solid despite the numerical disadvantage.
In what was a tense and high-energy contest, Trim's ability to maintain focus and intensity even when down to 14 players demonstrated the true strength of their character and skill. Despite the yellow cards, their determination and composure saw them claim the title in what was a tense and exciting final five minutes.
Trim's victory will be remembered as a testament to their teamwork, resilience, and individuals standing up to show their hunger for the title. These girls a credit to their Club and management team and we look forward to see them continue showcasing their skills as they move up the ages.
The girls missed our earlier in the year narrowly losing the final in the Spring League but they showed their character and strength by bouncing back to win the County Championship on Sunday.
We couldn’t be prouder of this outstanding group of young girls who have not only made history but have also set a shining example for future teams. Here’s to their incredible teamwork and spirit!
