Trim got off to a strong start, holding possession in the opening minutes. A free won by Evelyn saw Ellen register the first score of the game, quickly followed by another free and a fine point to settle Trim in. Drumree responded with two points of their own before Ellen struck again.
Drumree hit back with a goal and a point, but Ellen wasn’t to be outdone—burying a crucial goal to keep Trim right in the contest.
Half-Time: Trim 1-4 | Drumree 1-3
The second half saw more drama with Drumree adding another goal and point. Ellen replied with a goal from a free, followed by another point. Mary in goals was fearless calmly clearing danger with a block down and following the sliotar out herself to the corner flag and clearing up field. The sides traded scores, with Leah adding a fine point before Drumree nudged ahead again. Ellen’s accuracy kept Trim alive, sending the game to extra time!
Full-Time: Trim 2-7 | Drumree 2-7
Extra time was electric. Julianne fired over a brilliant point, Ellen slotted another, and though Drumree kept scoring, Ellen levelled again.
In the second period of extra time Trim powered through—Ellen struck two points, Chantel rattled the net, and a superb move from Katie to Chantel set up Sarah O’Connor who finished with a fantastic goal. Drumree tacked on a point but Ellen had the last say with one more score.
Final Score (AET): Trim 4-13 | Drumree 2-9
👏 A massive team performance with Ellen on fire throughout, helped by great ball in from Neasa, Grace, Julieanne and Leah, and frees earned through tireless work from Layla, Evelyn and Caoimhe.
💪 The backs were rock solid—to Aoife O’Brien, Nessa Slattery, Caoimhe Barry, Grace Cullen, Emma Reilly and Emma McLaughlin for immense defending.
💪 And huge credit to Leah Boyle, who after taking a heavy hit of the hurl in the opening minute, and required a blood sub, came back on and went on to have an outstanding game.
