The opening round of the Junior A Camogie Championship saw Trim and Kiltale battle it out in a fiercely contested clash that ended all square.
Chloe Butler got Trim off the mark with the first score, quickly followed by a fine point from Rachel McCormack, before Kiltale hit back to keep things tight.
On her adult championship debut, Evelyn William Byrne’s determined run put Trim ahead, but Kiltale levelled again in a game of constant momentum swings. Rachel added her second point before Mary Andrews pulled off a crucial save down the opposite end to deny a Kiltale goal, deflecting it for a 45 that went wide, and a late free from Ellen saw Trim lead by two at the break.
Trim started the second half brightly with Rachel completing her hat-trick of points and substitute Deirbhile Clifford adding to the tally, but Kiltale struck for a goal to edge in front.
Rachel steadied Trim again with an equaliser before Ellen extended the lead, only for Kiltale to level in the dying minutes.
After a battling performance from both sides, the game finished in a hard-fought draw, setting the tone for what promises to be a competitive championship.
Comhghairdeas to Evelyn Williams Byrne and Caoimhe Barry on their Senior Debuts. A big step up for the girls with Caoimhe doing great work in defence and Evelyn adding to the Trim scoreline.
