The home side first to attack from the throw in with an early call on the Trim defence as Donaghmore/Ashbourne open up the middle and go straight for goal, a goal line scramble sees the ball somehow cleared and the Trim attack started as Trim are first to move the scoreboard. A brilliant run down the middle of the pitch from corner back and Harry Harlin slots over. Opening up the Don/Ash defence Sweeny dances his way into the square to bury home and raise the first of many green flags in Ashbourne. A somewhat quiet half playing against the wind sees Trim just keeping the minimal lead. As tensions seemed to get higher Don/Ash, with a lack of discipline, sees them continue the game with 14 players. Trim trying to take control of this for the last few minutes of the half as they go in at the whistle leading by a lovely Harry Harlin goal who was causing problems in the Ashbourne defence, while playing in the No.2 jersey himself !

As the second half unfolded, Trim capitalized on their newfound energy and the advantage of playing with the wind. Determined to maintain their lead Harry Harlin, continuing on his first half performance, set up Ian for a crucial goal showing great teamwork and skill. Despite Trim's momentum, Don/Ash remained resolute, making a commendable effort to regain control. Liam, the Trim goalkeeper, made a spectacular save that kept his team comfortably ahead. As the match progressed, David Boyle sealed the game with a decisive goal, further extending Trim’s lead. The team’s cohesive play and execution proved too much for the undermanned Don/Ash, who fought but couldn’t bridge the gap. As the final whistle blew it was Trim that claimed the points.
