On Monday evening Trim minor footballers retained their Division 2 league title defeating opponents Skryne by 3-16 to 0-06 at Pairc Tailteann. 

Trim won the coin toss and chose to play into the town end goals with the aid of a stiff breeze in the first half.   Tadgh Foley opened the scoring with a free in the 2nd minute which was soon followed by 3 Cormac Walsh points (1 free), a two pointer from Tadgh Foley and another from Oisin Hughes to leave the score Trim 0-07 Skryne 0-00 after 15 minutes. 

Skryne were finding it  difficult to breakdown a well organised Trim defence and they suffered another setback when Trim were awarded a penalty after Lee Kearney was hauled down in the Skryne goalmouth.  Cormac Walsh calmly placed the ball in the bottom righthand corner of the net to put Trim into a 10 point lead.   Skryne opened their account with a fine point from play but 2 Tadgh Foley frees and points from Cormac Walsh and Lee Kearney ended the first half.

Skryne, with the aid of the wind in the second half, started brightly and added their second point in the 2nd minute of the second half. Tadgh Foley and Cormac Walsh both scored before Skryne added their 3rd point and two further Tadgh Foley points from play gave Trim a 15 point lead.  Evan Rattigan, in the Trim goals who had dealt confidently with a number of high balls dropped in to the small square up to this point was called in to action in the 16th minute of the second half when he made a fine save and cleared the danger with the aid of Fionn Ennis.   A pair of Cormac Walsh goals rounded off the scoring for Trim.
