FT Ratoath 0-12 Áth Troim 3-05

πŸ”΄ Trim minors got their Division One campaign off to a great start on Monday evening with a great away win versus Ratoath. After winning the toss the team chose to play into a strong wind in the first half.

Ratoath took advantage of the conditions to register the first score after 30 seconds. A great reply came after 6 minutes with Alex Fox winning a great high ball to turn and fire into the net from close range.

Ratoath responded with the next 3 points to lead by 1. Jesse O'Rourke fired Trim back into the lead with two well taken frees. Ratoath responded well with 2 points of their own to lead by the minimum at the interval.

πŸ”΄ HT Ratoath    0-06   Áth Troim 1-02

Despite playing against the wind Ratoath enjoyed a purple patch to register the first 3 scores of the second half to lead by four. Jesse O'Rourke managed to steady the ship with another well taken free.

Soon afterwards the move of the game put us back in contention. After turning over possession Tadhg Foley carried the ball deep in the Ratoath half and fed the ball to Daniel Fox wide on the wing. Daniel had only one thing on his mind and headed straight for goal to finish emphatically.

The sides traded points for the next period with scores from Jesse O'Rourke and a beautifully taken Tadhg Foley point to leave things level. All looked lost when the home side registered a point in injury time to take the lead.

This Trim team wasn't going to be outdone on this occasion. Glory came with the final score of the game. A Daniel Fox ball across the face of goal seemed to be out of Charlie Meehan's reach but he somehow managed to get his finger tips to the ball to guide it into the back off the net.

Some stout defending ensured that a two point gap remained between the sides at the final whistle to secure the two points for Trim.

Trim's next game is at home to Ashbourne next Monday 26th at 6.45.

Please come out to support the lads as they strive to secure a place in a Division 1 semi final.
