🔴⚾MATCH REPORT Senior Hurling League, Div 1, Round 4 – Thursday 30th May 🔴⚾
Trim welcomed back a number of their County squad for this Round 4 tie and maintained their unbeaten record against a dogged Athboy side. A feature of this game was the opening three Trim scores from the side line cuts of James Murray.
Nevertheless, this game was finely balanced right through the opening half with an almost equal trading of scores from each side. They say that goals win matches and it was two such scores from David Murtagh and Mikey Cole that proved the difference between the sides as the half time whistle was sounded by referee Conor Ferguson.
Half Time: Clann Na Gael 0-10; Trim 2-9
The second half resumed with Trim in the ascendancy and outscoring their host by 0-6 to 0-3 in the opening twelve minutes, and by a further 2-2 to 0-2 in the next six minutes with Josh Harris and James Murray raising the green flag for the travelling Red army. Joe Ennis converted three of the following four successive home scores to keep his side competitive and he added two more as the game moved to an inevitable conclusion.
In between Trim continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over and centre back Conor Quigley once more raised a green flag for the visitors. The Gaels did look like they had finally beaten Trim’s netminder, Charlie Ennis, late in the game but for the vigilance of corner back Danny Coleman who swooped late to avert the danger.
