Trim Lose Out to Moylagh

Trim disappointed in the latest round of the Premier Division 5 when bowing out tamely to a game Moylagh side on a 3-14 to 4-7 scoreline in Trim on Tuesday (June 4th) night.

This was a game that Trim looked like they were going to win on several occasions but then inexplicably took their foot off the pedal and allowed their opponents back in to the game. Moylagh opened the scoring with a point in the second minute but Trim responded well with a scrambled goal two minutes later from Sean Foley quickly followed by a Neil Sweeney point. Moylagh responded with a point.

A period of stalemate over the next ten minutes was broken when Moylagh pointed a free. Trim again took control and Sean Foley pointed a free and Mikey Cole goaled. The sides swapped the next two points and Trim were cruising.  With eight minutes left in the half Trim were four points ahead and comfortably moving the ball about but inexplicably they allowed Moylagh back in to the match by conceding 1-3 to a mere two points from Trim. The Moylagh scores resulted from Trim mistakes or needless frees.

Half Time Trim 2-04.  Moylagh 1-07

The opening ten minutes of the second half saw Trim dominate again but failing to fully hammer home their advantage despite scoring a further goal through Sean Foley in the 4th minute. Moylagh kept in touch with a point from a free.

Disaster struck in the 10th minute when a long ball from midfield was misjudged in the Trim defence and ended up in the Trim net. This was followed within a minute and directly from the kick out by another goal for Moylagh. Shortly after this Trim were again caught napping when Moylagh used a short free to make sure of a further point and to put a five-point gap between the sides. They extended the lead a minute later.

The match was effectively over at this stage but to their credit Trim continued their efforts to close the gap and were rewarded in the 20th minute when a great run by the very lively Conor McKeown was finished to the net by Sean Foley. The sides traded points for the remainder of the match but the result never looked in doubt at any time after the 12 th minute.

Final Score: Trim 4-07.  Moylagh 3-14
