Four goals from Aisling Canty and an outstanding second half defensive display were key in Trim's U13 Camogie Div 4 final victory over Navan O'Mahonys in St Loman's Park today.
Having edged out the Navan girls by two points in their group game earlier in the year Trim got off to a dream start with an expertly taken first goal from Sadhbh Gilsenan.
Katelyn McLoughlin followed with a point and then Aisling Canty added a second goal to put the girls in red in the driving seat.
OMahonys got back into contention with a goal from their powerful centre half forward but Trim held on well to lead by 2-1 to 1-1 at the break with Cayla Barry making some crucial stops.
After the resumption O'Mahonys laid siege to the Trim goals but with Niamh Barry, Saoirse Barry and Molly Flattery providing superb rearguard action they held O'Mahonys at bay.
Maggie Murray, Zoe May Cashell and Farrah Rigney foraged hard to make turnovers and with Olivia Forde, Katelyn McLoughlin and Aisling Canty driving from midfield they created more openings.
Aisling Canty bagged a second half hat-trick of goals to bring her tally to four and Sadhbh Gilsenan also clipped over a point.
Ava Flattery, Zoe Murphy and Emma Cottrell kept the O'Mahonys defence busy and in the second half the Trim finishers completed the job with Millie McCabe, Kayla McHugh, Brooke Hayden, Ruby Hughes, Charlee DeCourcey Tobin, Isabel Ryan, Grace Coogan and Saibh McMorrow all contributing to a magnificent team display.
