🔴Faoi 13 Div 6 v Slane⚪️
Trim recovered from a 7 point deficit early in the 2nd half to secure their place in the u13 FL Div 6 SF with a 5-8 to 2-10 win over Slane in St Loman’s Park last Friday night.
After enduring a disappointing loss to St Vincent’s/Curraha last Monday, Trim looked nervous in the opening half as the physically bigger Slane outfit kicked points for fun.
Trim found it difficult to control the slippy ball, but a brace of first half goals from Aisling Canty and a string of superb blocks from Saoirse Barry, ensured they were level at the break, 2-3 to 0-9.
After the resumption Slane took a firm grip on proceedings with a quickfire 2-1 to move seven points clear. However, rather than capitulate, Trim dug deep and clawed their way back into contention with goals from Zoe May Cashell & Katelyn McLoughlin proving crucial.
Clever defending from Emily Gantley, Sophie Lynch, Ava Flattery, Molly Flattery and Isabel Ryan and excellent awareness & kickouts by Ruby Byrne ensured Slane didn’t score again for the remainder of the game.
With Zoe May Cashell & Aisling Canty pushing up, Olivia Forde, Katelyn McLoughlin and Alannah Doyle driving at the heart of the Slane rearguard they either kicked scores or won frees which were converted. Maggie Murray & Jessica Mullen also caused plenty of problems, creating openings in the inside line as Trim finished strong with two late goals putting the game beyond doubt.
Trim still have one game to play against Ratoath, but have secured their place in the top four already.
