Trim lost out by the narrowest of margins in a tightly fought contest away to Ratoath in the fourth round of the div3 league tonight. Trim played with the wind in the first half, but it was Ratoath who got the first score with a well taken point inside the first minute of the match. Trim dominated for the next twenty minutes of the game, scoring six points in a row with excellently taken scores from Shona (0-05, 3f) and Deirbhile (0-01). Ratoath fought back with a goal and two points to bring the sides level. Trim did respond with three well taken points from Anna, Shona and Deirbhile to lead by three at half time.

Ratoath started the second half with their second goal of the game inside two minutes to level the match. Trim again responded with two points from Shona (0-02, 1f) before trim shared points with Ratoath to leave Trim two points up after ten minutes of the second half. Ratoath, who were benefiting from the wind, were rewarded from a long ball into the full forward line to score their third goal of the game. Trim rallied and scored two points from Shona (0-02, 2f) to lead the game by a point. Ratoath, though, hit two long-range frees to go back in front by a point in the closing stages. Trim battled well until the end of the match and were unfortunate not to come out with at least a point from the game.
The old cliché 'goals win games' definitely rang true in Sean Eiffe Park this evening.
