A miserable morning in Trim did not deter either team from giving their all in a strong performance from both sides with Seneschalstown coming out on top following a dominant second half.
Trim began the game, winning the throw in and moving the ball well up the field for the opening point inside 30 seconds from Aoibhinn Diamond.
Trim followed this up with points from Una Mitchell and Emma O'Neill (f) but were unable to deal with the quick interchange play and fast counter attacks by Seneschalstown from numerous turned over balls around the middle. A goal from Ella Mullen steadied the ship, but 2 goals from play left Seneschalstown in the driving seat and 5 points ahead at half time.
In the second half, the Trim defence were under pressure as Seneschalstown pushed their advantage. While they worked hard and broke up many attacks, the Seneschalstown fitness and ability to score from outside the 30 meters pushed them further ahead.
Trim did look dangerous in attack and with the clock running down Trim were forced to hunt for goals. Their attempts were thwarted, often by some robust defending by their opponents and some bad luck as we hit the post and crossbar.
The scoreboard does not reflect the effort put in by of this young Trim team. There were many positives to be taken away especially from our work rate in midfield and strength of the back line. We were delighted to welcome back some players for their first outing of the year and encourage all to continue training hard in preparation for the next game.
Final score Trim 1:05 Seneschalstown 2-15
HT Trim 1-04 Sen 2-07
Next game is away to Dunsany on 2th March
