St Peter’s Dunboyne 0-12: Trim 3-11

Trim made a winning start to their 2024 campaign when they overcame a dogged home side on an overcast and, generally, miserable afternoon in Dunboyne.

A smattering of established Senior players and youthful under 21’s, with Senior debutants Kyle Ennis, Daniel Murray, Aaron O’Rourke, and Daragh Smith, added to a pleasing result for the men in Red and White.

The visitors were quickly out of the blocks with a couple of early points and a fifth minute goal from George Douglas. The accurate free taking of Kyle Ennis was another feature in this encounter while Daragh Gilmartin was similarly effective for the home side.

Half Time: St Peter’s 0-7; Trim 1-8

In contrast to the opening exchanges, it was St Peter’s who resumed with early points to narrow the gap to 0-2. However, a Kyle Ennis goal, following a clever intervention from Daniel Murray, quickly restored, and extended, Trim’s advantage.

This was the way the game panned out as time ticked by and when Conor McKeown found the St Peter’s net for the third time, with 6 minutes remaining, the tie was effectively over as a contest.

Overall, it was a very pleasing start for Trim under their new management team of David McGuinness, Jimmy Canty, Stephen Doyle and Alan Smith with backroom team of Ollie Henry Henry and Ronan McGrath

Trim now look forward to a second Round home tie with Ratoath on 23rd March.
