FT: Trim 4-15; Na Fianna 0-09
Trim U21’s continued there winning ways with an emphatic victory over Na Fianna, under lights at St Loman’s Park.
The final scoreline does not give full justice to a spirited performance from the visitors but, in the end, a very talented and experienced home side asserted their authority and ran out comfortable winners by the time referee Mark Reilly sounded his final whistle.
It was Na Fianna who were quicker to settle and had three points on the board before Trim centre forward, Josh Harris, crashed home the first of his three goals. A Daragh Heffernan point followed soon after giving the home side the lead for the first time. A brace of pointed frees from Na Fianna free taker Rory Fagan had the visitors’ noses in front once more but by the end of the first quarter the sides were level. The further home scores coming compliments of Ciaran Caulfield and Daragh Heffernan.
The second quarter very much belonged to Trim and there were four unanswered points from Ian Byrne, Josh Harris (2), and Kyle Ennis (f), before Josh Harris raised another green flag in the twenty seventh minute. Joey Cole added a further pointed free while Na Fianna raised a couple of white flags during that period.
HT: Trim 2-8, Na Fianna 0-8
There was to be no repeat of the opening half on the resumption and Trim had stretched their lead with two placed efforts from Kyle Ennis in the first couple of minutes. Rory Fagan converted a free for the visitors in the third minute but that was to prove the final score for his side.
The Trim scores were now coming thick and fast with successive points from Kyle Ennis (2f) and Joey Cole before Kyle Ennis also raised a green flag following a fine one-two with Ian Byrne.
